ISOLITE operates six factories in the industrial areas of KwaZulu Natal and the Cape, the latest one custom-made with over 7 000m2 under roof. Smell polymerised beads of styrene are expanded using steam into "pre foam" of the required density. These expanded polystyrene (EPS) beads are them processed in a mould to form large blocks that are then cut into sheets or other shapes. Alternatively, for high volume products, the beads are moulded into their final product form in individual moulds. No CFC's or related gases are used and off-cuts and scrap material is recycled as part of the process.
